TORONTO — Kissa, the Japanese-inspired vinyl-only listening lounge on King West, has announced that renowned chef Daniel Ken (Blowfish Restaurant, Lavelle, Flyjin and Mademoiselle) has joined its culinary team as head chef. Kissa will also launch a new summer menu on June 24 as it celebrates its one-year anniversary.

Born in Sãn Paulo with Japanese-Brazilian heritage, Ken delved into the world of cuisine at 17, shaped by a lineage of Japanese chefs. After refining his craft at premier Japanese establishments in Brazil, he travelled to Italy, Qatar, Uruguay, and Japan, enriching his culinary repertoire. Drawing from his international escapades, he crafts an innovative fusion of Japanese and Western flavours, culminating in a distinctive culinary fusion. Throughout his career, Daniel has helmed the kitchens in many acclaimed Toronto and Montreal restaurants and is excited to bring his take on Japanese cuisine to Kissa.

Kicking off with the new summer menu, Ken will showcase innovative dishes that pay homage to traditional Japanese flavours while bringing a fresh, creative spin to dishes guests know and love.

The culinary offerings at Kissa are complemented by an impressive cocktail program, curated to pair harmoniously with the flavours of Japanese cuisine.

New this summer is a late-night happy hour menu on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 10 p.m. onwards, with the kitchen staying open late. Kissa is also launching Martini Sundays, showcasing Kissa’s delicious martinis at a special price.
