FREDERICTON — Following the federal government’s decision to cut Atlantic immigration targets by 50 per cent, New Brunswick is pausing permanent residency applications through the Atlantic Immigration Program and the Provincial Nominee Program from workers in the foodservice industry, among other sectors.
Due to limited space, the government has said they will focus on applicants in sectors such as health, education and construction trades. This will impact the foodservice industry in a significant way. Restaurants Canada continues to advocate for labour market solutions to allow the sector to connect with the workers it needs.
